The LCC’s goal is to connect literacy consultants from all over the world to engage in discussions in which we can seize the opportunity to rethink literacy teaching and learning with an eye toward true equity and social justice.
Mission Statement
Our mission as literacy educators and consultants is to ignite collective thinking, imagination, and will to design and support engaging and meaningful literacy practices and instruction for all students.
We advocate for equitable experiences and outcomes, and align with other educators to work against racism, prejudice, bias, and other forms of injustice within teaching resources, structures, practices, and programs. We value teacher thinking and decision making and reject programs marketed as quick and easy fixes that are designed to minimize teacher choice and disempower marginalized students’ voices.
We believe that every child comes to school with strengths and our goal is to help empower each child and work alongside teachers to develop these strengths. We advocate for a close, supportive allyship with parent/caregivers and community voices. Our goal is to provide a progressive voice as literacy consultants as we work collectively to be a force in education, reshaping education and reimagining a more humane educational world.
