May 13, 7:00-8:00 EST
Presented by Leah Mermelstein
There is no denying that teaching writing is complex. Because of this complexity, many teachers feel overwhelmed and unfortunately some students don’t get the practice they need to become an independent, proficient writer. This workshop will introduce you to the “We Do” model of instruction featured in Leah’s newest book, “We Do’ Writing: Maximizing Instruction to Develop Independent Writers. She will show you how to use this model to teach with simplicity and a respect for supported practice. You will learn how to prioritize equitable instruction by offering students, who need it, more time to compose together during Interactive Writing, Write Aloud, and Writing Process sessions. The end result? Independent, proficient writers.
10% of webinar proceeds will go to Community Lifestyle; https://www.communitylifestyle.org/, a non-profit organization that provides free literacy and recreational services to youth and teens.
None of the proceeds go to the Literacy Consultants’ Coalition.
Can’t participate live? A link to the recording of the webinar will be sent to all paid participants and be available to watch for 30 days.
