Date April 28 7:00-8:00 EST
Presented by Ted Kesler
Based on his book, The Reader Response Notebook: Teaching Towards Agency, Autonomy, and Accountability (NCTE, 2018), Ted will take participants through some reader response exercises, then introduce a curriculum of intention that opens up this common tool for purposeful, innovative thinking. Participants will experience:
- an expansive, inclusive understanding of texts;
- including art and design elements in response;
- how to make the RRN a shared community experience.
Participants will realize how reader response can be not just a tool for thinking after a reading experience, but also before and DURING reading. The workshop will be appropriate for all teachers and teacher educators who work with grades 2 through 8. Bring your notebook AND your drawing tools for this interactive, engaging workshop.
10% of webinar proceeds will go to Marine Conservation Institute.
Can’t participate live? A link to the recording of the webinar will be sent to all paid participants and be available to watch for 30 days.
